August book

We need a book for August? I really liked having a good short read this month, thanks Nick. Any thoughts?

I vote Frank or Ben to suggest the book for August.

So here are a few books that have been recommended to and/or purchased for me. I know a little about each of them but I'm not sure which I'd like to tackle. Google them and let me know what you guys think.

Native Speaker by Chang Rue-Lee;
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss;
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez; The Book of Daniel by E.L. Doctorow; Democracy by Joan Didion; On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

I'll be posting on the Alchemist soon (probably this weekend). I would have done it earlier but I was in pursuit of my personal legend and the universe was conspiring...etc, etc. I miss Cameron. Cameron, come back.

My vote is for "The Book of Daniel". I'm not a big Joan Didion fan, and "Daniel" is about a kid whose parents were Russian. Awesome.

Speaking of Russia...Most of you have probably heard the sad news that the LDS church is no longer sending American missionaries to the country due to visa restrictions. This is a huge setback for the work that has been going on in Russia.

I too miss Cameron. Maybe Google sent him to Russia on a secret Google mission and he is stuck due to visa restrictions.
